MUST’s Workforce Development Program

Scott lost his job due to a heart attack and was anxious to support his wife Jessica and their teenage daughter Elizabeth. Scott was tricked into a check-cashing fraud by a con artist. Scott found himself unexpectedly in jail when they were apprehended.
Scott and his family had nowhere to live after being released from prison until they learned about MUST's Elizabeth Inn. While they were there, Scott received assistance from MUST's Workforce Development program in developing his résumé and applying for a seasonal employment at Six Flags White Water. Scott was also given a lovely suit for his job interview. The family relocated to a close-by extended-stay motel once Scott was recruited. To assist them in adjusting to their new lives, MUST provided food and cooking supplies. As the motel owner got to know them and learned their story, he hired Scott as a handyman and Jessica to assist with housekeeping.
“The owner, considers us adopted family,” Jessica says with satisfaction. “He tells his friends we have taken a huge load off his shoulders.”
Scott adds, “MUST gave us employment classes, clothes and cookware and was extremely helpful. I’m always going to remember each MUST staff member who helped us. We’re also going to remember when a snowstorm hit and none of the volunteers could get to the Elizabeth Inn, we helped the staff fix and serve a meal.
“When we first got to MUST, we had no clue what we were going to do,” Scott concludes. “We just left it in God’s hands and say every day, ‘Thy will be done.’”
